The Africa Security Forum (ASF) is a prestigious initiative stemming from Think Tank Atlantis, dedicated to the study and in-depth analysis of the complex security challenges facing the African continent. Since its inception in 2015, ASF has established itself as a crossroads for experts, decision-makers and major players, proposing innovative responses to emerging issues impacting the region’s security.
Since its inception in 2015, ASF has already organized four landmark editions. At the inaugural edition in 2015, our forum brought together public and private players from 16 African countries around key themes such as security at entry points, modern identification and identity control systems, illicit financial flows and the digital and social divide.
In 2017, ASF expanded its audience by welcoming representatives from over 30 African countries and inviting 300 high-level personalities. That year’s edition focused on “Inter-African Cooperation in the Face of Terrorism, Radicalization and Transnational Crime”, sparking crucial societal debates.
In 2018, building on the success of previous years, the ASF brought together over 300 decision-makers from more than 35 African countries and 400 international personalities. Debates focused on redefining the axes of international cooperation in the face of the threats of the 21st Century, exploring themes such as migration and socio-economic development, cyber terrorism, e-reputation and big data, as well as the fight against extremism and radicalization.
In 2019, at its fourth edition, the ASF continued its momentum, attracting over 400 decision-makers from more than 35 African countries. The central theme “The Impact of Climate Change on Security in Africa” was explored through three areas of reflection: food security and water management, population growth and agricultural development, and anticipating tomorrow’s solutions.
