The Center’s philosophy is to contribute to collective reflection by offering an original forum for meeting and sharing ideas, concepts and/or positions. This is done in full respect of values recognized by the international community, and under the control of rigorous ethical rules.
Could the conflict between Russia and Ukraine redefine relations between the West and the rest of the world, particularly with Africa?
While in the early days of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the European Union strongly condemned President Putin’s decision and imposed the strongest economic sanctions, African countries appeared more divided.
A few months later, far from this theater of conflict, Africa is in the spotlight, because the longer the war drags on, the more the economic damage will have lasting consequences in many countries. The risk of conflict is real. Senegalese President Macky Sall, currently head of the African Union, has the tough task of making Africa’s voice heard on this issue.
How will Africa make its voice heard on the issue of respect for sovereignty, if it does not take a firm and unanimous stand against the Russian invasion of Ukraine?
